Further updates have come into force on Royal Mail’s PIP for small parcels. Get the news here.
The keen eyed amongst you will be well aware of further updates to Royal Mail’s Pricing in Proportion charges for first and second class mail. As of October 28th, Royal Mail have created a new small parcel size, in effect expanding the number of items you can send as small parcel.
Previously to the updates, items could be charged and sent as small parcel if they fit within one of two external dimensions:
450 x 350 x 80 mm
[/column][/row] Under the new PIP format however, Royal Mail have expanded the 160mm cube option, whilst retaining the second 80mm depth wider and longer option. Consequently, the Royal Mail now allows any packages within the following sets of external dimensions to be sent at Royal Mail Small Parcel rates:
350 x 250 x 160 mm – Small Parcel Deep
450 x 350 x 80 mm – Small Parcel Wide
[/column][/row] The expansion of the 160mm cube to the new ‘Small Parcel Deep’ dimensions is actually a great move from Royal Mail, allowing even more boxes to be sent at the cheaper Small Parcel rate, rather than Medium Parcel. Take for example our stock postal box range. The new ‘Deep’ dimensions now means that a further 14 of our stock boxes are suitable for Royal Mail Small Parcel postage. Great news for anyone using Royal Mail as their postal provider!
