Choosing the Right Cardboard Box

Choosing the cardboard box for your needs is essential to make sure your products are protected and effectively packaged. There are different considerations, such as wall construction, board grades, and flute types, which all play an important role.

• Single vs double-walled – single walls are made with one layer of corrugated board sandwiched between two liners, whereas double walls consist of two layers of corrugated board with three liners.
• Board grades – this refers to the overall strength rating of the corrugated cardboard. Higher board grades use stronger materials and thicker liners, making them suitable for heavier or more fragile items.
• Flute types – flutes are the wavy folds in between the liners that provide cushioning. Different flute types offer different characteristics.
  • A flute – the thickest flute that provides excellent cushioning and stacking strength.
  • B flute – thinner and denser, but offers good puncture resistance and a nice smooth surface for printing.
  • C flute – a versatile mid-range option that gives cushioning and strength, making it great for shipping.
